Welcome to the Maryland Center for Collegiate Financial Wellness!

The Maryland Center for Collegiate Financial Wellness (MCCFW) fosters a continuum of campus-based financial wellness programming and supports that build financial life skills and empower students to thrive.

MCCFW promotes informed decision-making for college and career students and their families at critical decision points, including college/career selection and the borrowing and repayment of student loans. Our work is informed by continuously engaging two groups:

  • Students and Families

MCCFW recognizes the complexity of decision-making for students and families wondering which college or career to select, and how to pay for higher education including borrowing and repaying student loans. We want to provide resources to help students succeed.

  • Campus-Based Professionals

MCCFW recognizes the importance of your role in addressing the unique needs of Maryland’s college and career students. We want to connect, share information and resources, and empower each other to move forward in advancing collegiate financial wellness.

Special Announcement for federal student loan borrowers

The Department of Education is conducting a one-time update, the IDR Account Adjustment, to address past payment counting inaccuracies and fix the process going forward.

The Payment Count adjustment will:

  • apply many of the relaxed standards used during the Limited PSLF Waiver period and

  • help borrowers get closer to cancellation by granting credit toward both IDR cancellation and Public Service Loan Forgiveness.

Some borrowers must act by April 30, 2024, to get the greatest benefit. Watch the video for details and next steps.
